Hi, my name is Abbey and I have set up my own running coach service with a difference

Firstly a bit about me:
I am a mother of a gorgeous and lively boy named Theo born in 2016 and a confident and beautiful girl name April, born in 2018.

Along with being a Mathematics teacher, I am a registered Physiotherapist working on a part time basis focusing on massage, gait analysis and rehab programmes. I am also a UK Level 2 Athletics coach helping at several local clubs as well as forming my own club of Run 4 U and Perform Running Club as well as Run 4 U and Perform Junior Academy.

My main sporting achievements include representing Great Britain at Triathlon age group and winning the European title in this category and ranking second in the World on two occasions when I was under 21. I have competed on many occasions for county Athletics 1500m and Cross-country whilst competing throughout the UK at many 5 and 10km road races. I have dabbled with cycling achieving Cat 2 status when competing at many road and circuit races throughout the country. As a youngster I was into everything and competed at county level at Badminton and Hockey whilst also playing football for Derby County girls 1st team. My most recent achievements are winning the Chester Marathon in 2019, Boston, UK, Marathon in 2021 and placing 16th British Woman at the London Marathon 2022. Most recently I have gained England Master qualification for my age group at the Half Marathon distance.

As you can see I love my sport and it has been a massive and very influential part of my life. I have made many mistakes but have learnt from my failure and had great gains.

One of my passions is helping others reach their goals and targets. This is one of the main reasons I had a change of career to become a Mathematics teacher. I love this job as I get to see children discover a love for a subject that has sometimes scared them, they begin to realise that they will often get the answers wrong but start to learn that they need to preserver. This concept works just the same with running, there have been many times where giving up is the easiest option, or doing that same session or route again is the most comfortable thing for us, but we all know that this does not bring improvements. That buzz that we first got when we started out disappears and that incredible high by seeing our improvements has gone. We all have the potential to achieve, whether it be completing the route without stopping for the very first time, knocking minutes off our stopwatch on that regular Sunday morning run or improving our time in the annual local or even national race. We can all achieve our goals, its sometimes just knowing where to start…

With my help you could see those improvements reappear by having some tailored training plans. Because every one is different Run 4 U and Perform offers running training to suit you as an individual and together we will aim to reach your personal goals and targets. Training will be progressive and enjoyable and can incorporate strength and conditioning sessions to prevent injury.

Through weekly reviews based on your feedback I can analyse the intensity of your training. With this in mind, training plans can be adapted weekly from this progress analysis, which is vitally important as we are all unique!
