Run 4 U and Perform Running Club Welfare Policy
Run 4 U and Perform Running Club are committed to protecting and respecting each and every one of its members. We have adopted the Safeguarding Process and Procedures outlined by UK Athletics (UKA) and the Home Country Athletics Federations (HCAF).
The club committee plays a key role in ensuring that all club activity is safe. Safeguarding responsibilities are the joint responsibility of all club committee members.
Our Key responsibilities:
- Agreeing to & implementing policies, procedures and processes.
- Ensuring that club officers and volunteers act responsibly and set an example to others.
- Developing an environment that promotes the wellbeing and safety of athletes, including the development of performance.
- Consistently promoting positive aspects of the sport to ensure rules are upheld.
- Willingness to respond to any concerns of abuse or poor practice.
- Promoting an environment where all concerns can be raised without fear of victimisation.
- Develop a culture where everyone plays a part in upholding safeguarding policies.
Our Club Welfare Officer (CWO):

The formal safeguarding process is mapped in Appendix 1 of the Adult Safeguarding Procedure (page 10) and the Adult Safeguarding Report Form can be found in Appendix 2 (page 11-13).
Should you have any grievance with the CWO, this can be raised to the Club Secretary, or other Club committee member.
Disciplinary issues can be unrelated to Welfare issues and can be raised directly with the Club Secretary for committee consideration, as appropriate. If any issues raised are deemed to be of a Welfare-related concern, the CWO will take on the matter accordingly.
Club Welfare Officers will adhere to the UK Athletics code of conduct for Welfare Officers, and:
- Listen to any concerns or complaints made to them. Receive these in confidence and take appropriate action to address the issue on a case-by-case basis.
- Where resolution is not possible, the CWO will contact UK Athletics and seek advice and support.
- Promote the clubs code of conduct to members.
- Ensure club members and coaches have the correct accreditations necessary for their roles (DBS checks, run leader qualifications, etc.).
Run 4 U and Perform Running Club will:
- Accept the responsibility to implement produces to provide a duty of care to all members.
- Respect the rights, wishes and feelings of all members taking part in club activities/events.
- Ensure all the committee are appropriately trained through UKA to carry out their duties,
- Require all Run Leaders and Coaches to adopt and abide be the Welfare Policy and Procedures.
- Respond to any concerns or allegations and implement the appropriate resolutions or disciplinary actions and appeals.
